Bali, certainly one of the most beautiful islands of Indonesia, is well known as a tourist destination, and offers the tourist and expatriate more then a lifetime of information to consume.

Some facts about Bali: Bali is closed in by Java on the East side and the island of Lombok on the West Side, 153 km long and 112 km wide (95 by 69 miles). It lies about 8 degrees south of the equator. Its surface is 5,700 square kiliometer. The important cities are the northern port of Singaraja and the capital, Denpasar, near the southern coast. The town of Ubud, with its art market, museums and galleries, is regarded as the cultural center of Bali.

Bali is a true paradise filled with beautiful beaches, rainforests, and river valleys. Equally as beautiful as the natural surroundings are the numerous temples, open-air theatres and holy sites that sprinkle the island. This is one of the unique qualities about Bali, beautiful surroundings are coupled with cultural relics. The many temples scattered around the island are used and serviced on a daily basis.

The main tourist locations are the town of Kuta (along with its accompanying beach), Sanur, Jimbaran, Seminyak and the newer development of Nusa Dua. The Ngurah Rai Airport is located near Jimbaran.

Around the island you find many coral reefs. Beaches in the south usually have white sand while those in the north mostly have greyish, dark colored sand. The harbor town of Padangbai in the north east has both types of beach: the main beach and the secret beach have white sand and the south beach and the blue lagoon have much darker sand.

There live about 3.3 million people on Bali, and they are mostly (about 90%) Hindu, but a very small part is Muslim. This makes it one of the unique parts of Indonesia.

On this site you find a selection of Bali Media, ranging from Books and Maps, to DVD's and Music CD's.
